At the end of 2015 I listened to the audiobook version of The Surrender Experiment. And it changed my life.
Since then I have returned to this book many time, reading and listening to it. But it took me a couple of years of my own “surrender experiment” to truly grasp some of its profound teachings. My experience with this book is that it’s easy to misunderstand.
Over the years, I have often gifted The Surrender Experiment and had many conversations with colleagues and clients about it: what did Michael Singer really mean when he said…?
After just one such conversation last week, I decided to record some thoughts for the podcast.
Please be warned, this episode contains many spoilers!
I highly recommend you read or listen to the book first and then engage with this episode.
Some of the topics I cover:
Thinking that The Surrender Experiment is about always saying Yes - it’s not
The confusion about boundaries - and what happened to my ability to set boundaries once I got some clarity
Privilege, doing business, and reading a spiritual book in a literal way
Expecting Michael Singer to have all the answers - he doesn’t
The moment Michael Singer lets go of spiritual bypassing in the book
And here are some of the things I mention on episode 26 of The Repurpose Your Purpose Podcast:
Michael Singer’s books, The Surrender Experiment and The Untethered Soul.
I encourage you to read The Surrender Experiment firstHow my life changed after reading The Surrender Experiment
